Due to our commitment with the natural environment around us, PortAventura
bases its operations on a management model that allows us to develop our
business to the max, while showing the greatest respect for the natural
environment beyond the current requirements of the area regulations. A
proof of the above are the various important environmental certifications
we have been awarded, such as the European EMAS certificate, the ISO14001
standard or the Environmental Quality Guarantee Distinction. It must be
noted that the collaboration and involvement of all our employees is of
vital importance to multiply the effects of the continuous improvement
steps that are implemented.
Corporate Responsibility Commitment
From its beginnings, PortAventura has worked to encourage mutually beneficial
relationships with the different stakeholders in the environment that surrounds
us. By integrating responsible and sustainable management to our business
strategy, we have become the leading theme park in Spain and one of the
ten most visited parks in Europe, generating a significant direct and indirect
impact on its local environment and the community. PortAventura is a very
active economic, social, and environmental agent that integrates a responsible,
sustainable management lead by our four corporate values. Commitment, quality,
passion for customer service, and team spirit.
The social responsibility of PortAventura extends to other communities,
especially of children and young people, who suffer chronic or severe diseases,
disabilities, or risk of social exclusion. Through several collaboration
agreements, associations, foundations and social institutions find in PortAventura
the resources, support and encouragement necessary to develop different
solidarity projects, such as leisure accessibility journeys, society awareness
events, fund collection campaigns, blood donation campaigns, etc. In this
sense, PortAventura has always been especially sensitive with the Resort
accessibility to all kinds of groups.
The Global Compact of the United Nations (UN Global Compact) is an initiative of ethical commitment intended for entities of all countries to implement as an integral part of their operations and strategy, the 10 Principles of Conduct and Action on Human Rights, Labor Standards, Environment and anti-Corruption fight.
In 1997, we create the Equip Verd Environmental Committee, a team destined
to lead our environmental initiatives and to implement the EMAS management
system (Eco Management and Audit Scheme), a community management and environmental
audit system of voluntary application that allows companies and other organizations
to evaluate, improve, and promote their environmental behaviour.
Environmental Statement 2012
In 2003, the Environmental Quality Department of the Departament de Medi
Ambient i Habitatge de la Generalitat de Catalunya, awarded the PortAventura
hotels the Environmental Quality Guarantee Distinction, a system to identify
products or services that offer certain features that brand them as more
respectful with the environment.
Main features of the Environmental Quality Guarantee Distinction (in Spanish)
In 2007, PortAventura received ISO14001 certification, the standard of
reference for the implementation of a management system focused on the
continuous improvement of the environmental aspects of a business. It consists
of a series of elements and activities intended to guide, direct, plan,
control, and improve an organization by enforcing the compliance of the
applicable environmental requirements required by law and a reduction of
the environmental impact of a company.
In the same way, PortAventura obtained recognition from the Travelife
Sustainability System, a recognition scheme that allows business to actively
promote their environmental and sustainability efforts among the public.
This certification evaluates the commitment to quality and specialized
attention to families. Also, this certification considers an added value
all the comfort and tranquillity for the customers to feel at home and
benefit from the quality of the entertainment and leisure activities offered.
